J. D. PRICE was born March 29, 1836, in Hopkins, now Webster County, Ky., and is a son of Thomas and Delaney (Nichols) Price. The father was born in 1790, in North Carolina, and about 1812 came to Kentucky, and located in Hopkins County. He died October 24, 1872. The mother was born in North Carolina in 1800, and died July 27, 1872. J. D. was reared on his father's farm and at the age of twenty-two assumed control of the farm, and afterward removed to his present farm, then consisting of 290 acres. He now owns about 440 acres, largely in cultivation, which he acquired solely by his own exertions. He was married, January 7, 1858, to Mary A. Wallace, of Union County. They are life long and devoted members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, of which Mr. Price is a deacon.
