    [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 5, Ed. 1, Tree #0082, Date of Import: 31 Dec 1998] Laurence Travers, of Nateby and Tulketh Castle, Preston, Lancashire Co. (now Lancaster Co.) England on June 24, 1287 was serving as Warden of the Hospital of B.M. Magd. at Preston, and also as a juror on the inquisition port-mortem of Adam de Preston. He married the daughter of Orme de Kellet. They had two sons, Laurence and Thomas. The elder son, Laurence, in the 21st year of Edward I, (about 1296) deeded to his younger brother, Thomas, all his land and title, and entered a monastery thus leaving Thomas as heir upon their father's death.     [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 5, Ed. 1, Tree #0082, Date of Import: 31 Dec 1998] Laurentius Travers, of Nateby and Tulketh, Lancashire Co. (now Lancaster Co.) England. He was the first family member to live at Nateby as well as Tulketh Castle. Nateby refers to farm lands deeded to the family by William Nateby about 1270. Most of the structures on this farm have been destroyed by fire, however part of the main residence still stands, and can be seen in the book, THE TRAVIS (TRAVERS) FAMILY by Major General Robert J. Travis.

    [Brøderbund WFT Vol. 5, Ed. 1, Tree #0082, Date of Import: 31 Dec 1998] John or Johannes Travers was a member of the King's Council during the reign of Henry II. He owned a fee farm in Ashton-upon-Ribble. Ashton is within the confines of the city of Preston, and the river Ribble flows by Tulketh Castle, which is sometimes referred to as Mount Travers.
