    Caldwell County, Kentucky History Book, page 262, article 174 CHARLES G. ESKEW Charles G. Eskew, the eighth of Benjamin and Nancy Eskew's twelve children, was born in Wilson County, TN, in 1821 and died in Caldwell County, KY, about 1883. Benjamin Eskew 1775-1843, father of Charles, migrated from North Carolina to Tennessee about 1811 and served in the militia during the War of 1812. Charles Eskew married Mary Ann Rowland in Wilson County on 5-18-1853. They moved to KY about 1857 and purchased a farm on Donaldson Creek. Their first child, Marion Lafayette 1856-1890's, was born in TN. He and his wife, Mattie Mason had three children: Will Henry 1884-1885, Lula May 1887-1959, and Zelma Lee 1888, living 1964 in Little Rock, Ark. The other children of Charles and Mary Ann were. John Wesley 1858-1896, married Ollie Carner 1868-1901-their children were Lena (Mrs. Mack Clift), Mettie (Mrs. Elmer Carter) and James Alpha Eskew; Elizabeth, born 4-22-1863, died before 1870; Tennessee, born 4-1-l866, died between 1870 and 1880; Ella "Ellie" born 1-15-1872, married a farmer, Emerson E. Williamson, 1868-1950, and died 9-1-1926. They lived in the Freewill Community where they raised their four children: Archie Lee, 1896-1941, married 1. Lizzie Jones 2. Ozma Singleton. and 3. Stella Board; Stella May, born 10-27-1903, married 1. Ben Williamson and 2. Guy Strawser, lives Greenville, Ohio; Mary Melville, born 10-6-l907, married Max Sheridan, and resides in Caldwell County; and William Jewell "Sam", born 10-24-1909, lives in Dayton, Ohio. Wiley Eskew 1813-1884, a brother of Charles G. Eskew, and his family moved to Caldwell County about 1867. His farm was located on the banks of the Tradewater River. Wiley and his wife Minerva VanHooser had several children, including Andrew J. Eskew and Dr. Dewitt Eskew. Dr. Eskew practiced at Shady Grove before moving to southeast Missouri in 1879.     The Last Will and Testament of Benjamin Eskew

    I Benjamine Eskew of Wilson County State of Tennessee, do make and publish this as my last will and Testament, hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time made. First, I direct that my funeral expenses and all my debts be paid as soon after my death as possible out of any moneys that I may die possessed of, or may first come into the hands of my Executor. Secondly, I give and bequeath to my wife, Nancy Eskew the whole of my land during her natural life, and two head of horses, and my cart and yoke of oxen and fifteen head of sheep and fifteen head of hogs and all my geese and two cows and calves and all my household and kitchen furniture that she wants likewise two ploughs and two set of gear. Thirdly, I give and bequeathe to my son William Eskew my chest of carpenters tools. Fourthly, I give and bequeathe to my three daughters Jane Eskew, Nancy B. Eskew and Fanny Eskew, 1 bed and furniture a piece. Fifthly, my will and desire is that all the ballance of my property be sold and the money equaly divided among my children Elizabeth Baird, Alfred Eskew, Jane Eskew, Andrew Eskew, William Eskew, Parthena Smart, Charles Eskew, Nancy C. Eskew, Benjamine J. Eskew, Wiley Eskew, Fanny Eskew, Robt. B. Eskew. Sixthly, my will and desire is that after the death of my wife Nancy Eskew, all my land be equally divided among my sons Alfred Eskew, Andrew and William Eskew, Wiley Eskew, Charles Eskew, Benjamine J. Eskew, Robt. B. Eskew. Lastly, I do hereby nominate and appoint Alfred Eskew and Andrew Eskew my Executors, in witness whereof as I do to this my last will, set my hand and seal this twenty-fourth February in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty-three.
